  • Early Life & Education

I met Olga when I had a summer job. It was 1978. I had gotten a job as a maid in the Country House Assisted Living in Yorktown Heights. Olga asked if I could be an assistant and come twice a week to help her in and out of the bath and tidy in her room, but also she liked to chat a bit. Some things she shared with me: She claimed she had been the 1st Jewish Opera singer in the NY Opera house. She also claimed to be aunt to Critic Gene Shalit. She told me he was a very wild child. He once rode his tricycle off the roof of his house! Unfortunately, I don't recall less extreme tales she may have told me.
