    Nisson Leonard Kanevsky was born about the year 1888 in Ukraine, Russia, to Isa Kanevsky and Rae Novokosky. Nisson Kanevsky married Vera Minerva Salome Douglas (1898 - 1972) in 1916 in Victoria, Australia. They had two children: a son, Boris Dorian Leonard (1917 - 1956) and a daughter, Gloria Rae Minerva (died in 1993). Their daughter Gloria married and had one daughter. Montana, Minnesota, Nebraska, Kansas, and Texas were hit, leaving 235 dead. Many of those who perished were children on their way home from school.
