Nila J Chrispell 1928 - 1991

Nila Jane Chrispell of Merritt, Missaukee County, Michigan United States was born on October 13, 1928 to Robert Chalkley Lincoln Nichols and Nina Maude Thomas. Nila Chrispell had a brother Ivan Nichols. She married Evert W Chrispell and they later divorced. Nila's partner was Evert William Chrispell, and they had children Nina Marie (Chrispell), William Henry Chrispell, Donald Chrispell, Lois Ann Mead, Larry Chrispell, and Charles Chrispell. Nila Chrispell died at age 62 years old on January 10, 1991.

In 1928, in the year that Nila J Chrispell was born, aviatrix Amelia Earhart, age 31, became the first woman to fly solo across North America and back in August. In June, she had been part of a 3 man crew that flew the Atlantic Ocean but since she had no instrument training, she couldn't fly the plane - she kept the flight log. The North American flight became one of her many "firsts" as a female pilot.
