Ngatokorua Frisbie Dawson was born to Noatokorua-a-Mataa "Nga" Matoa (1913 - 1939) and Robert Dean Frisbie (1895 - 1948). Her stepfather was Lee Reno Dawson (1904 - 2001). Her mother was born in the Cook Islands and her father was born in Ohio. She had one brother, William Hopkins "Jakey" Frisbie (1933 - 2009). She also had three half-brothers. Ngatokorua-i-Matauea ‘Nga' Frisbie married William Anderson. better known as actor Adam West, in 1957 in Puka-Puka, Tahiti, and they had one son and one daughter, Jonelle and Hunter. They divorced in about 1962.
