He was in a relationship with Christina (Kennedy) McCalman, and had children Catherine (McCalman) Campbell, Archibald Neil McCalman, and Flora Louisa (McCalman) Ritchie. Neil McCalman died at age 84 years old on May 7, 1922 in Bendigo, Greater Bendigo City County, VIC Australia.
