    Nathaniel served in the military during World War 1. Amongst the descendants of Philip Leek(1611-1676) who had the surname of Leake, Leek, & Leeke, he was the very 1st to live long enough to celebrate a 100th birthday. Little did he expect that his 2nd wife would live to 105 before she passed away in 2010.

In 1898, in the year that Nathaniel Lorenzo Leek was born, on March 24th, Robert Allison of Pennsylvania became the first person to buy an American-built car. He bought a Winton, which he had seen in an advertisement in Scientific American. The Winton, built in Ohio, was made by hand and came with a leather roof, padded seats, gas lamps, and tires made by B.F. Goodrich.
