    Nathalie N. Stookey went home to be with her Lord and Savior on December 15, 2010, at the age of 88, in Owasso, OK. Nat was born, in Thackerville, OK on November 29, 1922, to her loving parents, Lucien and Mary Monkres. Nat and Johnnie were married on August 8, 1942. Nat was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Nat was a member of Southeast Baptist Church in Tulsa. Nat was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie, her parents Lucien and Mary Monkres, and her sister, Geneva Hedges. Nat is survived by two sons, Jim Stookey and wife Donna of Broken Arrow, and Bill Stookey and wife Judy of Tulsa. Her grandchildren, Becky Brittain, Greg and Michelle Clevenger, Johnnie and Jana Stookey, Daniel and Desiree Palm, Jimmie and Dee Stookey, Tim and Karen Sparks. She leaves behind great-grandchildren, and a host of friends and caregivers whom she loved dearly. Services will be held at 1pm, on Monday, December 20, 2010, at Southeast Baptist Church, Tulsa OK. Burial will be at Park Grove Cemetery, Broken Arrow OK. Moore's Eastlawn Chapel.

In 1922, in the year that Nathalie N Stookey was born, on November 4th, British Egyptologists George Carnarvon and Howard Carter unearthed the first step leading to King Tutankhamen's tomb in the Valley of the Kings. By the end of the month they had unearthed the steps and broken through the door into the intact tomb. This was the only tomb that had remained unlooted that had been found (and is, to date). Filled with gold, jewels, and ancient everyday items, the find was priceless - in terms of money and history.

In 1941, at the age of 19 years old, Nathalie was alive when on December 7th, the Japanese attacked the military base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. The surprise aerial attack damaged 8 U.S. battleships (6 later returned to service), including the USS Arizona, and destroyed 188 aircraft. 2,402 American citizens died and 1,178 wounded were wounded. On December 8th, the U.S. declared war on Japan and on December 11th, Germany and Italy (allies of Japan) declared war on the United States. World War II was in full swing.
