Nada Izora (Lee) Dodson was born on August 22, 1898 in Bonham, Fannin County, Texas United States to John Evans Lee, Sr. and Virginia Evoline (Pate) Lee, and had siblings Melvin Vernon Lee, Earl Evans Lee, Sarah Eda LeNora "Nora" (Lee) McDonald-Ellis-Shobert-Moore, Ernest Manard Elton Lee, Clyda Iola "Clytie" (Lee) Scott, Samuel Ennis Lee, Eura Odesa Lee, Opal Vera Lee, and Wilma Alma "Willie" Lee. She married Robert Lee Dodson. She would also marry T. "Jim" Thompson. She married John Cameron McKinney, Sr., and they had children Merle Okemah McKinney and John Cameron McKinney, Jr.. Nada Dodson died at age 85 years old on November 14, 1983 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma County, OK.

In 1898, in the year that Nada Izora (Lee) McKinney-Thompson-Dodson was born, on February 15th, the USS Maine exploded and sank in Havana harbor. The reason for the explosion has never been found, but it killed 266 men. "Remember the Maine" became a rallying cry and precipitated the United States' declaration of war on Spain two months later - the beginning of the Spanish-American War.
