Myrtle E. (Tiggs) Dawson and
Jesse R. Dawson Jr exchanged candlelight wedding vows the evening of July 16 in Allen Chapel AME Church, Bryan. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Tiggs of Bryan are parents of the bride. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Ray Dawson Sr, of Dallas. The Rev. W.D. Turner performed the double ring ceremony. Music for the wedding was presented by Nettie Sheets, pianist, and Diane Grays, soloist.
The bride given in marriage by her father, wore a formal gown of Chantilly lace over peau de soie. The fitted crescent bodice featured a portrait neckline edged in scalloped lace ruffle and venise lace. The full lace skirt flowed into a chapel length train. A camelot cap of lace and seed pearls held the bride's three tiered veil of English silk illusion edged in Venise lace. Glenda Louise Johnson attended the bride as maid of honor and Marsha Anderson was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Flora Thomas, Doris Robertson, and Emma Johnson. The attendants wore halter style gowns in pastel and romance blue. Jackets accented the gowns. The attendants carried bouquets complementing the color of their gowns. James Smedley was best man. Groomsmen were Clarence D. Webster, Jack R. Bragg, William Patrick Anderson and Gary Wayne Cooper. Ushers were Clarence Webster, William Patrick Anderson, and Gary Wayne Cooper. Christopher Cooper and Sean Wright were candle lighters.
Also attending the couple were Mark Anthony Webster, ring bearer, Chiquita Elaine Sheppard. Kathy Cooper and Stacey Dawson, flower girls. reception the Fellowship Hall of the church followed the ceremony. Houseparty members included Cynthia Hall, Laura Webster, Carol Payton, Ora Bailey and Sherry Bailey. Special out-of-town guests included, Lt. and Mrs. Wayne Posey Dallas, and the brides brother and sister Cynthia Hall. Eldridge Hall, both of Chicago. Ill.
The couple will live in Dallas following a Caribbean cruise. The bride is a graduate of Hearne High School. She also attended Lon Morris Junior College and Texas Wesleyan College. She is a member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.
