    Mumford B. Giles To Be Buried 5 P. M. Thursday Funeral services for Mumford Bland Giles, 62. of Kentuck, who died yesterday in Memorial Hospital after a short illness, will be conducted at the Giles home tomorrow afternoon at five o'clock by Rev. H. S. Roane and Rev. M. P. Sorrell. Burial will be in Highland Burial Park Mr. Giles was born in Pittsylvania County in 1884. a son of C. C. and Jennie Tompkins Giles. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Nettie Adams Giles: four children, Oscar C. Giles of Kentuck. Thomas C. Giles of Danville, Frank D. and Woodrow W. Giles of the South Boston Road: and the following brothers and sisters: Johnnie Giles, Charlie Giles. Louise Giles. Callie Giles and Mrs. May Sours, all of Chatham, Kit Giles of Lynchburg. Mrs. Virgie Yeatts of Alexandria, and Mrs. Fannie Ragsdale of Petersburg. Four grandchildren also survive.

In 1909, he was 25 years old when the U.S. penny was changed to the Abraham Lincoln design. The Lincoln penny was so popular that it soon had to be rationed and it sold on the secondary market for a quarter. Abraham Lincoln was the first historical figure to be on a U.S. coin - which was released to commemorate his 100th birthday. This penny was also the first U.S. cent to include the words "In God We Trust.".
