Mona Mildred (Stephens) Cayten was born on December 1, 1929 to Nora Daniels Stephens and John Riley Stephens, and had a sister Danville Raines. She married Allen Dewey Cayten, and they had children Sally Jo Sims Wester, Vernon Lee Cayten, Geneva Cheeks, Timothy Allen Cayten, David Andre Cayten, John Mark Cayten, Michael Wayne Cayten, Sonya Jean Spychalski, and Rebecca Lynn Lambert. She would also marry Allen Dewey Cayten, and they had children Sally Jo Sims Wester, Vernon Lee Cayten, Geneva Cheeks, Timothy Allen Cayten, David Andre Cayten, John Mark Cayten, Michael Wayne Cayten, Sonya Jean Spychalski, and Rebecca Lynn Lambert. Mona Cayten died at age 81 years old on October 11, 2011, and was buried at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery 20953 West Hoff Road, in Elwood, Illinois United States.
