    Introduced to the game of basketball in his home country of Nigeria, Mohammed rode his proficiency in the game into many venues. According to the website dedicated to him, , "While at Coastal Carolina, he broke the Coastal Carolina University single season block shot record in 1992 – 93 season with 51 block shots, a record that stood until the 2009 – 10 season. In August 1993, Mohammed was a member of the 10-man Big South Basketball (NCAA) All-Star team that went on tour to Russia and at the end of the tour he was voted the tournament’s MVP." It goes on to say: "Mohammed was a Lebanese Basketball League Champion with Club Sagesse of Ashrafieh, Lebanon from 1998 to 2001. During his career with Club Sagesse, he was also an Arab Clubs Champion in 1998, Asian Basketball Club Champion in 1999 (where he was voted the Best Playmaker at the Championship) and Lebanese Basketball Cup winner in 2001. Mohammed became the second and last Nigerian to participate in the McDonald’s Open when Club Sagesse took part in the last edition of the McDonald’s Championship in 1999. This was an international men’s basketball cup competition played between the champions of the continental club competitions and an NBA invited side between 1987 and 1999."

    Mohammed was born to Mr Igoche & Late Mrs Achetu Acha and had 6 siblings; Edo, Mary, Gideon, Abo, Inalegwu Henry "Dre" and Inyamuwa Linda. NOTE: While the date, July 21st remains the same, various news reports put his birth year as 1973 and 1974. On this memorial, we are using the Social Security date of 1971. He was reportedly 6 feet 7 inches tall and although his first love was football, when he discovered the game of basketball, he was quickly converted. According to his website, , "Mohammed, who is listed on USBL All-Time Roster, was just a normal Idoma guy who enjoyed watching movies, playing video games and being around his friends and family. He was a great personality who was adored by fans and commanded the respect of his opponents."

Nigeria: Acha's Remains Arrive Today
Lagos — The remains of the late national basketball are player Mohammed Acha expected in the country today aboard KLM for his onward journey to eternity.

Chinedu Ezealah, scribe of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), who disclosed this to THISDAYSports yesterday, said part of the arrangements by the Federation to honour the late basketball star would be the lying-in-state at the Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Lagos tomorrow.
