He had siblings Martin Jr (1905-1946), Bertha (1907-1961), Mary (1911-1988), Catherine (1915-1991), Anna (1918-1993), and Steve Blazevich (1924-1946). He grew up in Greenfield, Blair, Pennsylvania and later moved to Claysburg, Blair, Pennsylvania, USA where at the age of 21, he registered for the draft on February 16, 1942. On January 1, 1943, Blazevich enlisted in the United States Army in Altoona, Pennsylvania. He held the rank of Private and entered the service under the branch "Branch Immaterial - Warrant Officers, USA,". Blazevich served in the Army from January 8, 1943, until his discharge on December 23, 1945. Michael was married to Matilda F Buchler (1921-2014) and the couple had two children together; a son and a daughter.
