May Kate (Marguerite) Dew of Nhill, Hindmarsh Shire County, VIC Australia was born in 1897 in Ballarat East to Catherine Rosser Dew and James Dew. She had siblings Teresa Ellen Dew, Bradon James Dew, Gerald Duffield Dew, and Mark Wyndham Ros Dew. May Dew married Charles Horace Fox, and died at age 85 years old in 1982.

He had beaten William Jennings Bryan in the 1896 election by 51% to 46.7% in the popular vote. Six months into his second term as President, McKinley was assassinated.

In 1925, by the time she was 28 years old, in July, the Scopes Trial - often called the Scopes Monkey Trial - took place, prosecuting a substitute teacher for teaching evolution in school. Tennessee had enacted a law that said it was "unlawful to teach human evolution in any state-funded school". William Jennings Bryan headed the prosecution and Clarence Darrow headed the defense. The teacher was found guilty and fined $100. An appeal to the Supreme Court of Tennessee upheld the law but overturned the guilty verdict.
