    Max was raised Catholic and sent all of his four children to Catholic school both in NYC, and in CT. His burial mass was at St Michael's RC Church in Greenwich, and his final resting place is St Mary's cemetery in Greenwich, CT.
  • Professional Career

    Max was an "apprenticed baker" ( pastry chef) who learned his skills in Germany, before coming to America, and beginning his new life in New York City. He became the caretaker of NYC's Kölping Society summer retreat in Greenwich CT. ((Now the campus of the prestigious Greenwich Academy). He remained in Greenwich at that property until is death in 1974. It is in Greenwich also where he mastered his early skill of baking while working as a baker at the St Moritz Bakery on Greenwich Ave, where he was known by those who worked with him to step out into the chilled morning air to look at the moon which determined how much whiskey he would add to the minced pies that would be available for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.
