I met Mason in 1979 when we both worked for Probation. He was the fastest typist that I had ever seen and was able to type, tend the desk and answer phones all at the same time. He didn't know how many wpm he could type. Mason was lots of fun to be around. He had the most compassion and I found a true friend in him, who came to me as an angel in my darkest moment back in 1980. His mother Julia, a beautiful woman, heard about me and took an instant like of me and felt at peace whenever she knew that Mason was with me. I got to meet both his parents, though his father was more reserved, Mason was jolly like his mom. When his mom died, Mason came to look for me at my new work location and we both cried together. He told me that I reminded him so much of his mom. We would stay months without communication, but he would sometimes show up at my door to take me to a movie or have dinner. The last time that he called me I was at work, but he sounded very sad. He was worried about his three little Chihuahuas if something should happen to him. I guess he knew he was dying, but didn't have the heart to tell me. This was sometime in March or April of 2009. I tried calling him in August that same year and his phone was disconnected. I myself got very ill in late September 2009-January 2010 and was in ICU for several months. I cried for my friend and my grandson promised to look for him to no avail. I finally was determined to find him and today I did after failing many other times. Today is October 26, 2014, it took five years after my surgery and given 2-3 days to live to be able to find out for certainty what I already knew. He would never just leave me. I miss him so much. Rest in Peace my friend. I will join you soon
