  • Introduction

    The West Australian. Perth. 8th May 1889. - A DIVORCE CASE. ADELAIDE, May 7. A petition by Mary Ann Dorricott of Melbourne, for the dissolution of her marriage with Richard Henry Dorricott, a warder at Dry Creek prison, for adultery and desertion, was heard today. There was no appearance by the respondent. The petitioner was married at Guildford, Western Australia, and loved with respondent at Guildford, Fremantle, Adelaide, and Melbourne. Two children were born at Fremantle, who are now of age. The husband joined the police force in 1863, and lived with his wife until 1870, when he went to Melbourne. She had to take on work at a hotel. Her husband went back to Adelaide in 1874, and in the fifteen years that followed she received £150 from him. Evidence of adultery and desertion was clearly proved. The Herald, Melbourne. 3rd February 1882. At Richmond, in Wednesday, Mr. Panton, P. M., granted the following transfers of publicans' licenses- Mary Ann Dorricott to William John Luscombe, the Yarraberg Hotel. The Age, Melbourne. 15th January 1890. - MARRIAGES. BROMMAGE - DORRICOTT. On the 6th January, at St. George's Church, Royal Park, by the Rev. R. Short, Harry Brommage, of Wolverhampton, England, to Mary Ann Dorricott, of Melbourne.
