He had twelve siblings: Leo, Harry, Edward, Ethel, Lloyd, James, Ruth, Joseph, Thomas "Tom", Louis , and one more brother and one more sister. On his 1942 World War II draft card, Marvin was described as being 5 feet 8 inches tall and as weighing 162 pounds. He had blue eyes, brown hair, and a "ruddy" complexion. Marvin E. Barlage married Frieda Elnora Jabs (1932 - 2021) on October 28th, 1950 and they had five children: Kenneth Fred (1951 - 2020), Ronald Melvin (1956 - 2004), Baby Girl (1968 - 1968), one more son, and one more daughter.
