I have an old studio photograph of Mattie MCFARLANE of Detroit, MI which was taken at the Gibson Studio in Ann Arbor, MI in 1887. Mattie is identified as a member of 1887 Class of Michigan State Normal School (MSNS). Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Mattie and her family:

Martha “Mattie” A. MCFARLANE was b. 20 Mar 1863 in Greenfield Township, Wayne Co., MI to parents John MCFARLANE (1838-1911) and Martha Melicia MCDONALD (1838-1863). Mattie was the only child born to this couple, though after her mother died her father remarried and two additional children were born including Hattie Elizabet “Etta” MCFARLANE (1867-1937) and Arthur Walker MCFARLANE (1884-1939). Mattie married James W. “Johnie” KENNEDY (1858-1917) on 15 Aug 1889 in Greenfield, MI and they had three children including Rex W. A.; Neita or Nita Lucille; and Margaret Veia KENNEDY, all born between 1892 and 1896. Mattie died on 8 Jun 1913 in Detroit, MI.

I am hoping to locate someone from the family so that the photograph can be returned to the care of family. If you are a member of this family or know someone who might be, please contact me.

Thanks,
Shelley
