Mariah Elizabeth (Gormly) Richards was born in 1879 to James Gormly and Margaret (Hatty) Gormly, and had siblings Alexander Gormly, Margaret Gormly, and Mary (Gormly) Rowe. She was in a relationship with Richard Henry Richards, and had children Vera Wilhelmina (Richards) Nye, Vida (Richards) Sharpe, and Avis (Richards) Carroll. Mariah Richards died at age 69 years old on August 9, 1949 at Alfred Hospital in Melbourne, Melbourne City County, VIC.

  • Introduction

    The Cobram Courier. 19th August 1949. - Mrs. H. Richards. The death occurred recently at the Alfred Hospital, Melbourne, of Mrs. H. Richards, at the age of 70 years. The deceased lady was well known at Barooga and surrounding districts, having spent her early childhood there. She led an active life until an accident a few years ago caused her some disability. The late Mrs. Richards is survived by several brothers and sisters of whom ( Mrs. G. Tomkins, Cobram ), and ( Mrs. Bergin, Melbourne ), are members. She also leaves a family of three daughters, Vera ( Mrs. A. Nye, Barooga ), Vida ( Mrs. H. Sharpe, Kensington ), and Avis ( Mrs. J. Carroll, Glen Waverley ), to mourn their sad loss. Her husband predeceased her some years ago. The funeral took place at the Barooga Cemetery.
