Services were scheduled today for Manuel M. Mingura, a 75-year resident of Carson. Born Jan. 30, 1911, in Arizona, he died Dec. 10, 1991, in San Pedro.
Mr. Mingura is survived by his wife, Margaret; a son, David of Bell; three daughters, Monica Johnson and Olga Ortega of Carson, and Armida of Washington; two brothers, Arthur and Leo; two sisters, Mollie Carvajal and Jennie Lopez; eight grandchildren; and three
great-grandchildren.
The rites were set for 1 p.m. at the Green Hills Mortuary in Rancho Palos Verdes, with burial at All Souls Cemetery in Long Beach.

He was my grandfather on my mom’s side. I haven’t been able to find much info on the Mingura family and origins. I know my grandpa was born in Morenci, Arizona, and his father’s name was Carlos and mother Juana.
My grandma Margaret Mingura once told me she taught my grandma how to speak Spanish because he did not know the language when they first met.
