She married Ernest Leslie Ardlie, and had children Bessie Eileen (Ardlie) Dix, Cecil Braim Ardlie, Ivan Geoffrey Ardlie, Nancy Mabel Leighton Ardlie, and Gordon Gerald Ardlie. Mabel Ardlie died at age 87 years old in 1959 in Geelong, Greater Geelong City County.

Still seaworthy, under partial sail, and with one lifeboat missing, what happened on her is still a mystery. Her cargo and provisions were intact and she was used as a cargo vessel for another 12 years but the people onboard were never seen again
