    Sarah was my grandmother on my father's side. She and my grandfather build a one room log house in the forties after moving to Tennessee with my two aunts. The boys came later. My grandfather was a coal miner and Sarah stayed at home. Every one called her Luella.

    Sarah Shrum Mrs. Sarah Luella Shrum age 98 of the White City community near Tracy City passed away Thursday evening in Emerald-Hodgson Skilled Care in Sewanee. She was born June 14, 1912 in Sewanee, a daughter of the late Franklin Caldwell and Rhoda Green Caldwell and was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Shrum; son, Mitchell Shrum; brothers, Robert, William and Paul Caldwell; sister, Anna Marie Summers. Survivors include her children, Thomas Allen (Carol) Shrum, Joseph Leon Shrum, Bertha Crisp and Betty Shrum all of Tracy City; brother, Archie Caldwell of Ohio; sister, Ester Snelson, Murfreesboro; 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Barry Nolan officiating. Burial will be in Burns Cemetery in Sequatchie. The family will receive friends Saturday 5-9 P.M. at the funeral home. Arrangements are by Foster & Lay Funeral Home, Tracy City, Tennessee.
