Lucille "Lucy" Dorothy Dunkerton 1889 - 1965

Lucille Dorothy (Dunkerton) Watson of Brunswick, City of Merri-bek County, VIC Australia was born in 1889 in Camberwell, City of Boroondara County to Mark William Dunkerton and Eliza Georgina Bishop Dunkerton. She had siblings Stephen Dunkerton, Ruby Dunkerton, Mabel Dunkerton, May Dunkerton, Dulcie Eliza Dunkerton, Alexandra Dunkerton, George Dunkerton, James Dunkerton, and Nellie Dunkerton Berry. She married Sydney Charles Watson in 1915, and had children Lucy Sidney Eliza Watson, Mabel Reuby Watson, and Nellie Dorothy Watson. Lucille Watson died at age 75 years old on October 21, 1965 in Brunswick, City of Merri-bek County.

In 1889, in the year that Lucille "Lucy" Dorothy Dunkerton was born, on May 31st, the South Fork Dam collapsed. Located in western Pennsylvania, the dam failed - sending more than 20 million tons of water into the towns below it. The flood killed more than 2,200 people in and around Johnstown. The newly formed Red Cross responded to the disaster.

Although the Act was supposed to be temporary, it stayed in effect until 1965.
