Lola Charmian (Chatin) Baker of Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California United States was born in April 1921 in Walsenburg, Huerfano County, Colorado to August Chatin and Lola L (Young) Chatin. She had a brother Louis Chatin. She married Harry Lee Styron, Sr. in 1939 in Littleton, Arapahoe County and they later divorced in 1942. She had a child Harry Lee Styron, Jr.. Lola Baker died at age 64 years old in August 1985 in Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, CA.

Introduction

Grandma Baker, as I knew her, passed away of liver cancer when I was young. I remember her as the grandmother who used to come up from Los Angeles in her trailer and play with a stuffed Snoopy toy with me. She had an enormous collection of Madame Alexander dolls that she loved and cared for. She grew up in Walsenburg, CO and left when my dad was 2.

In 1921, in the year that Lola Charmian Chatin was born, on November 11th, the first burial was held at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery. The body of an unknown soldier - selected by Army Sgt. Edward F. Younger who was highly decorated for valor and received the Distinguished Service Cross in "The Great War" - was brought back from France (World War 1) and placed in the newly completed tomb. President Warren G. Harding officiated at the interment ceremonies.
