Llywellyn Downes Griffith of Prahran Australia was born in 1859 to Arthur Hill Griffith and Hannah Rose Cottingham Griffith. He had siblings James De Burgh Griffith, Chtte Mary Griffith, Elizabeth Hannah Griffith, and Christopher Arthur Griffith. Llywellyn Griffith died at age 82 years old in 1941 in Prahran.

In 1859, in the year that Llywellyn Downes Griffith was born, on October 16th, abolitionist John Brown led a raid on Harpers Ferry Armory in Harper's Ferry, Virginia, in an attempt to start a slave rebellion. He wanted to "liberate" the guns in the armory and arm slaves. Brown was captured and hanged on December 2nd.

In 1881, at the age of 22 years old, Llywellyn was alive when on October 26th, the "Gunfight at the O.K. Corral" happened in Tombstone, Arizona. The gunfight lasted only 30 seconds - the Earps and Doc Holliday on one side and the "Cowboys" on the other side. The McLaury brothers and Billy Clanton of the Cowboys were killed. Two of the Earp brothers and Doc Holliday were wounded.
