Lillian graduated from Boise High School and the College of Idaho.
Professional Career

She worked as a younger girls secretary in YWCAs in Michigan, Philadelphia, Idaho, and Hawaii and directed camps in Turkey, Czechoslovakia and Hawaii. After World War II, Lillian and her husband, Sydney, bought Camp Wawenock in Maine, a girl's camp which they had for fifty years. In 1996, it was named one of the ten best camps in the United States.
Personal Life & Family

Lillian K (Kessler ) Ussher was born on June 30, 1905 in Boise, Idaho to Harry S. and Julia Kessler. She was the second of five children including Lucile, Margaret, and Raymond. She was survived by her sister Katherine. Lillian Kessler married Sydney R. Ussher on August 15th, 1941 in Boise, Idaho. Although they never had children, they bought a girl's camp and ran it for fifty years, touching the lives of many children. Lillian served as president of the Maine Camping Association, was on the Board of Directors of the New England Camping Association and was a frequent speaker and presenter at camping conferences. She also received a Life Achievement Award, given by Albertson College of Idaho in 1995.
