Lewis Henry Korn of Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania United States was born circa April 10, 1922 in Helfenstein, Northumberland County to Earl W. Korn and Leah G (Knock) Korn. He had siblings Clarence A Korn, Alice (Korn ) Weisbeck, Elsie (Korn) Boyer, Dorothy Grace (Korn) Wolfgang, Kenneth Warren Korn, Robert F Korn, Albert Korn, Miriam June (Korn) Camp, and Evelyn (Korn ) Menne. Lewis Korn died at age 68 years old on April 2, 1991 in Reading, Berks County, and was buried at Laureldale Cemetery 4631 Pottsville Pike, in Reading.

Did you know?
In 1922, in the year that Lewis H Korn was born, on June 22, coal miners in Herrin Illinois, were on strike (coal miners had been on strike nationally since April 1). The striking miners were outraged at the strikebreakers (scabs) that the company had brought in and laid siege to the mine. Three union workers were killed when gunfire was exchanged. The next day, union miners killed 23 strikebreakers and mine guards. No one, on either side, ever faced jail time.

In 1935, Lewis was just 13 years old when on August 14, the Social Security Act was signed into law. The purpose was to "provide federal assistance to those unable to work". The law established the Social Security Administration whose primary focus was to "provide aid for the elderly, the unemployed, and children". The Act survived many Supreme Court challenges and the Administration continues until today.
