These are my gr-gr-grandparents, Lewis Alderson Ashworth and Eliza Rice Ashworth. Their home is in the background at 2521 Prairie Avenue in Mattoon, Illinois. My grandmother wrote that the rich black mud turned into gumbo. Every summer my grandmother, Kathryn Neff traveled from Fayette Co. IN to this location with her parents, Charles and Sadie B. Ashworth Neff to visit her grandparents and five uncles and three aunts. Wonderful memories she wrote. Lewis was the son of Cornelius C. and Hannah Mooney Ashworth.
