He immigrated to the United States and married Katharine Burton on November 30, 1946 in Ithaca, New York, USA. They had children John and Jefferey Gordon. He then moved to Los Angeles and became an actor and also served in the United States military. Leonard graduated from University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in 1940 and later in life he worked as a Psychologist Teacher at the Bureau of Education Research.
