    LaVonne Valentine, nee Yager, was born in Ely, Nev., but spent nearly her entire life in California. On her mother's side, Valentine was a direct descendant of colonial patriot George Mason of Virginia, who wrote the Virginia Bill of Rights, on which Thomas Jefferson based the first ten amendments to the U.S. Constitution. Moreover, Valentine was the first female flight instructor in California history and had a private flying school in Susanville. Communism, women's rights, and labor rights were her early passions, and she was the owner and lead instructor at the LaVonne Valentine Modeling Agency and School. Valentine had no issue and was preceded in death by her husband, Al Valentine, previously Valentino. She was survived by her brother Bill Yager, niece Denise Yager, and nephews Joe Ben Stephenson and Davis Temple Stephenson.

I took a television acting for commercials class from LaVonne Valentine in 1980. She had a little dog with her always. She called me her Clara Bow. She had me subscribe to Vanity Faire and got me an Acting Gig for CoCa Cola that paid for my tuition for her course. I liked her. Strange to realize she was close to her end when I knew her. I sometimes miss her, brief as our acquaintance was.
