Laverne Andrews Born July 6, 1911, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Died May 8, 1967, in Brentwood, California, USA (liver cancer) Birth Name Laverne Sophie Andrews Ms. Andrews and her sisters, Patty and Maxene, were one of the most successful women's singing groups, with 19 gold records and sales of nearly 100 million copies. The sisters began performing in the early 1930s when the Depression wiped out their father's business. In 1937, the sisters scored their first big hit with 'Bei Mir Bist Du Schoen.' In addition to 'Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy', their best-known songs included 'Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree' and 'Rum and Coca Cola'. The trio officially broke up after the death of Laverne in 1967, and a suitable replacement could not be found. Family (2) Spouse Louis A. Rogers (17 November 1948 - 8 May 1967) (her death) Relatives Maxene Andrews (sibling) Patty Andrews (sibling) Trade Mark (1) Eldest sister to middle sister, Maxene Andrews and youngest sister, Patty Andrews. Trivia (5) Laverne was oldest of The Andrews Sisters singing trio, Maxene was middle sister and Patty was the youngest sister of the trio. Both parents were immigrants, a Greek father and a Norwegian mother. The Andrews Sisters were awarded a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for Recording at 6834 Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood, California. The Andrews Sisters trio of Laverne Andrews, Maxene Andrews & Patty Andrews are listed in order of first, second and third born. The order of their births is also the order of the length of their lifetimes. Laverne died age 55. Maxene died age 79. Patty died age 94. The Andrews Sisters, Laverne, Maxene, or Patty, none were biological mothers. Maxene adopted two, one daughter, Aleta Ann and one son, Peter. Patty also adopted one daughter, Pam DuBois.
