Laura Jeanette (Mead) Brechbuhl was born on February 27, 1902 in Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin United States to Richard H Mead and Estella Octavia (Adams) Mead, and had siblings Almon E Mead, Denzil E Mead, Rachel (Mead) Hirth, Ray Kenneth Mead, Vern H Mead, and Iva Irene (Mead) Robinson. She married Charles L Rees in 1924, and they were married until Charles' death on December 2, 1926. They had a child Irene Rees. She also married Frederic Brechbuhl, and they were married until Frederic's death in 1968. Laura Brechbuhl died at age 86 years old on October 13, 1988 in Shannon, Carroll County, IL.

Called the "Tournament East–West football game" at the time, the Michigan Wolverines (East) played the Stanford Indians (West) - the Wolverines won 49 - 0.
