She married Harry Edward Ohmie Sr on August 24, 1940 in Benkelman, NE, and had children Myrtle LaVerne (Ohmie) Lendo, Donald James Ohmie, Peggy Joanne (Ohmie) Ryan, and Harry Edward Ohmie Jr. Laura Ohmie died at age 77 years old on April 18, 2002 in Topeka, Shawnee Co County, KS, and was buried in April 2002 at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Fort Collins, Larimer Co County, CO.

    Topeka Capital Journal Sat. April 20, 2002 LEROY--Laura Dell Ohmie, 77, LeRoy, died Thursday, April 18, 2002 at a Topeka hospital. Mrs. Ohmie had worked for Rocky Mountain Pottery Company, Loveland, Colo., doing art and pottery work in the 1960s and 70s. She was born July 22, 1924, in Campbell, Neb., the daughter of William and Margaret Niciholson Hollander. She lived in LeRoy from 1947 until moving to Colorado in 1962. She returned to LeRoy in 1974. Mrs. Ohmie was a member of the LeRoy United Methodist Church, the Pleasant Hill Ladies Aide and the LeRoy Research Club. She married Harry Edward Ohmie on Aug. 24 1940, at Benkelman, Neb. He died Sept. 18, 1996. She also was preceded in death by a son Harry E. Ohmie, Jr. in 2000. Survivors include a son, Donald James Ohmie, Gardner, two daughters, Peggy Joanne Sprinkle, Clifton, Colo., and LaVerne Lendo, Burlington; two sisters Carol Howell, Ovid, Colo., and Eva Johnston, Cortez, Colo., 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Jones Funeral Home, Burlington. Graveside services will be Wednesday at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Fort Collins, Colo. Mrs. Ohmie will lie in state from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home in Burlington. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Laura Ohmie Memorial Fund to be designated later, which may be sent in care of Jones Funeral Home, P.O. Box 277, Burlington, Kan., 66839.
