He married Betty McGee (Née Graves), and had children Angela Potte (Née McGee) and Timothy McGee. Larry McGee died at age 70 years old on February 26, 2013 in Pulaski, TD.

Larry E. McGee passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at NHC Healthcare in Pulaski. He was born on July 6, 1942 in Pulaski, Tennessee and was 70 years old. He was a veteran of the United States Army and retired as a sawyer for Standfill Sawmill. Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 27th from 4:00 until 8:00 pm at Bennett-May-Giles County Funeral Home. Funeral service will be on Thursday, February 28th at 11:00 am in the chapel of Bennett-May-Giles County Funeral Home, with Bro. Richard Long officiating. Burial will follow in Giles Memory Gardens with full military honors. Memorial donations are suggested to, American Cancer % DeDe McAfee, Bank of Frankewing, 2324 Highway 64 East, Frankewing, Tn. 38459; or American Diabetes Foundation, P. O. Box 11454, Alexandria, Va. 22312. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Lena Medley McGee; brothers, Bill and Robert McGee; sister, Mary Ellen Whitworth He is survived by his wife, Betty Graves McGee of Pulaski; son, Timothy McGee (Marci) of Pulaski; daughter, Angela Potte (Ken) of Miss.; step-son, Martin McGee of Pulaski; step-daughter, Tammy Glover (Joe) of Goodspring 11 Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Sisters, Barbara Wallace of Pulaski. Daisy Rich (Robin) of Pulaski, Mable White of Lewisburg, Dot Thornton of Pulaski, Brother Tully McGee (Mae Bell) of Pulaski. Bennett-May-Giles County Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for Larry E. McGee. Thanks for your support.

At the end of the battle, the U.S. and Filipino forces surrendered and a three-year occupation of the Philippines by Japan began. Between 60,000 and 80,000 American and Filipino soldiers surrendered and were marched around 60 to 69 miles - most were beaten, abused, or killed. Named the Bataan Death March, it was later declared to be a war crime.
