I believe he was the son of Larrett Langley an English schoolmaster of Bampton Bierlows, Yorkshire, who was transported for fifteen years in 1836/7 for issuing a forged promissory note for £100 [about £5,000 in 2015 money]. I suspect but do not know that Larrett Waldegrave was the product of a bigamous marriage he contracted a with a woman named Emma after arriving at Hobart. I don't think Larrett senior ever returned to England.
