At Uncle Charlie's Holtz Ranch. I use to stay with Aunt Alma part of every summer. Ceta & Verna rarely went. I played with cousin Sheldon & the ranch hand's kids. At Aunt Cora's, I use to play with the Japanese kids of the orchird workers. They didn't speak English & they grew up & bought the ranches in Auburn. Sheldon & I use to go dances in their Model T Ford at Rock Creek.

When I was five years old, my sister La Verna Lewis Holmes was born (Jan 28, 1914). I don't remember this photo being taken. I spent my time with my friend Ernestine Self. They moved from North Carolina. I went over to Mrs Self & asked if her little girl could play. She was my first friend.
