Colored Women Civic Club Meets
A large number of guests visited St. James' AME Zion church Sunday for the open house sponsored by the San Mateo Civic Club for Colored Women as its first program of the fall season. Among the visitors introduced by Mrs. Gladys Pettis, club president, wer Dr. and Mrs. J. Levi Hutchinson and Dr. and Mrs. W. Reynolds.
Mrs. Lillian Dixon, past president of the California State Association of Civic Clubs, introduced officers and members of the local group. Mrs. Kellmar Gonzales read the club prayer and Vivian Boutte McClelland was soloist. Among members of the program committee were Mesdames Ethel Chester, Mary Boutte, Mattie McCorkle, A. E. Miles, Pearline Procella and Usa Lee Beasley.
