    Juanita ''Nita'' Quaid,92,passed away,Monday,August 5,2019 in Austin,Texas. Mother of Randy Quaid and Dennis Quaid. Former wife of the late William R. ''Buddy'' Quaid of Houston,Texas and the late Bob Finch also of Houston,Texas. Nita was born in Emmett,Texas on January 29,1927 to the late George Waymon and Ollie French Jordan. She resided in Houston,for over 50 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church since 1948. Nita was a successful realtor for over 30 years in the Houston area. Preceded in death by her parents,former husbands,her brother George,Jr.,her sister Dorothy Henson of Tennessee,brothers;Bueford B. Jordan of Conroe,Texas,Charles Jordan of Houston,Texas and Doug Jordan of Waco,Texas. She is survived by her sons;Randy Quaid and his wife Evi and Dennis Quaid of Texas. Grandchildren; Amanada,Jack,Thomas,and Zoe Quaid,great-granddaughter Alma. Her brothers;Bill Jordan of Hubbard,Texas and Thomas Jordan of Fort Worth,Texas,many nieces and nephews and dear friends. Visitation will be held for Nita on Thursday,August 8,2019 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home,12800 Westheimer Road,Houston,Texas 77077. A funeral service will be held Friday,August 9,2019 at 10:00 A.M. at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home Chapel. Interment to follow at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery. In 1927, in the year that Juanita Bonniedale Quaid was born, the first "talkie" (a movie with music, songs, and talking), The Jazz Singer, was released. Al Jolson starred as a cantor's son who instead of following in his father's footsteps as expected, becomes a singer of popular songs. Banished by his father, they reconcile on his father's deathbed. It was a tear-jerker and audiences went wild - especially when they heard the songs. Thus begun the demise of silent films and the rise of "talkies".

In 1937, when she was just 10 years old, on May 6th, the German zeppelin the Hindenburg caught fire and blew up. The Hindenburg was a passenger ship traveling to Frankfurt Germany. It tried to dock in New Jersey, one of the stops, and something went wrong - it blew up. Thirty-six people were killed out of the 97 on board - 13 passengers, 22 crewmen, and one ground worker. The reasons for the explosion are still disputed.
