Joslin McCabe Dies; Construction Superintendent
Joslin McCabe, 56, a superintendent of construction companies for more than 30 years, died Tuesday (June 30, 1981) in his home.
Memorial services for the Kenmore resident will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday in the C. Mertz and Son Funeral Home, 9l1 Englewood Ave., preceding a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John the Baptist Church.
Mr. McCabe was affiliated with the family-owned Watrous & McCabe Associates Ltd. construction firm of 267 Kenmore Ave. and was its field superintendent for the past two years. Before that, he was a field superintendent of the Metzger Construction Company of Buffalo for about 30 years.
Born in Montreal, Mr. McCabe had lived in Kenmore since he was 2-years-old. He attended St. Paul's Elementary School and was graduated from Kenmore High School. Mr. McCabe is a Navy veteran of World War II.
He was a member of the Nocturnal Adoration Society and the Holy Name Society of St. John the Baptist Church. Mr. McCabe was an extraordinary minister at the church and received the 1981 Lay Award for outstanding work in his parish. He was a member of American Legion Post 1130, the Carpenters' Union Local 9 and a board member of Boy Scout Troop 104.
He is survived by his wife, the former Helen R. Wollenschlager; a son, Mark J.; two daughters, Patricia Ruda and Kathleen M.; and four sisters, Phyllis Wurster and Marie Forbes of Lotus Bay, Joan Miller of North Tonawanda and Annette McCabe of Kenmore.
Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
