He grew up in Queens, NY with siblings John Peter Lwowski (1904-1984), Chester Julian Lwowski (1907-1983), Stanley Valentine Lwowski (1909-1975), Louis Ludwig Lwowski (1910-1945), Emily Amelia Lwowski (1913-), Carmela Lwowski (1914-), Josephine Lwowski (1916-), Valentine Lurowski (1918-1965), Walter Lwowski (1918-), and Constantine Stanley Lwowski (1920-1990). At the time of his registration for the military draft on October 16, 1940, he was 26 years old, resided in Elizabeth, New Jersey, and was employed by the Heil Co. Joseph Lwowski then enlisted in the military on July 29, 1942, in Newark, New Jersey. He was assigned to the Branch Immaterial - Warrant Officers, USA, as a Private, Selectee (enlisted men) and served in the Army during World War II.
