Joseph was a foreman or superintendent in the "shoddy" mill. Every now and then, on payday he would come to his office window and throw a little bag of candy down to his neice Lillian. He was born 1/7/1848 in Lanoraie,Quebec, and married Mary Louise St. Onge about 1870. Joseph died on 1/3/1902 in Northborough, MA.
At the time of Joseph's death, he had surviving family members, his wife Mary, daughter's Emma Gaucher, Josephine and Louisa Derosier, sons Arthur, Charles J, and Fred X. The diamond stud (worth $40 )that he is wearing in this photo was listed as part of his very sizable estate.
