    The Argus, Melbourne. 22nd October 1928. BOYS BODY RECOVERED. The body of John William Utting, aged seven years, of Palmer-street, Collingwood, was recovered from the Yarra near the Henley staging on Saturday morning. The body was taken to the morgue. Utting fell into the river while playing at Collingwood on October 11.

In 1921, in the year that John William Utting was born, on November 11th, the first burial was held at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery. The body of an unknown soldier - selected by Army Sgt. Edward F. Younger who was highly decorated for valor and received the Distinguished Service Cross in "The Great War" - was brought back from France (World War 1) and placed in the newly completed tomb. President Warren G. Harding officiated at the interment ceremonies.

In 1928, in the year of John William Utting's passing, Mickie Mouse was born! He first appeared in Disney's Steamboat Willie, along with Minnie. Although they were in two previous shorts, this was the first to be distributed. Steamboat Willie took advantage of the new technology and was a "talkie" - music was coordinated with the animation. It became the most popular cartoon of its day.
