John Willard Leek was born on February 3, 1873 in Iola, Allen County, Kansas United States to Robert Preston Leek and Martha Ann Campbell, and had siblings Albert Joseph Leek, Caroline Elmira Leek, Austa Louise Leek, Leona May Leek, Anna Myrtle Leek, Franklin Edward Leek, Charles Robert Leek, Emily Leek, and Susan Elizabeth Leek. He married Maud Lillian Vincell, and had children Edward Franklin Leek, Eurith Susie Leek, Edith Mattie Leek, Inez Miriam Leek, and Joseph Benaugh Leek. John Leek died at age 49 years old on July 29, 1922 in Guthrie, Logan County, OK.

It went into effect on April 1st and ended the use of gold and silver in the U.S. for currency - placing the country on the gold standard. The Act wasn't popular with everyone.

Suspected of colluding with the Governor of Missouri, brothers Robert and Charley Ford were arrested, indicted, plead guilty, sentenced to be hung - then pardoned by the Governor. All in one day.
