John Wesley Poe Jr of Torrance, Los Angeles County, California United States was born in 1897 in Exeter, Tulare County. He was in a relationship with Doris Drew (Firebaugh) Poe, and had children Robert Wesley Poe and Myron "Miny" Logan Poe. John Poe died at age 64 years old on August 28, 1962 in Redondo Beach, Los Angeles County, and was buried at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier.
Photo from an article written about the Compton Dairy Product plant in the 1940s. The plant was run by my grandfather, John Wesley Poe, and his sons, Robert (Bob) Poe and Myron (Miny) Poe, my father. They made cheese here but also made specialty ice cream products like ice cream bars and drumsticks. They also made all the mix for all the Southern California Foster Freeze Ice Cream stores.

John Wesley Poe and Doris Drew (Firebaugh) Poe at their Curries Ice Cream Store.
In the 1940s, the Poe family owned and operated a number of Currie's Ice Cream stores in Southern California. This is my grandpa, John Poe, enjoying a sundae as my grandmother, Doris Poe grins at him as she looks on.
They came to Missouri in the late 1820s from North Carolina. Then in 1853 they went as part of a wagon train to Oregon and finally settled in Northern California in 1857
