He had siblings George J Kennedy, Lawrence Kennedy, and Dennis Francis Kennedy. He married Edith Hoffman, and had children John J. Kennedy, Marion v. Kenendy Swart, Joseph J. Kennedy, William C. Kennedy, Edith C. Kennedy Tedesco, Helen Kennedy, and Dorothy Kennedy Zullo. John Kennedy died at age 69 years old on August 9, 1962 in Troy, and was buried circa August 12, 1962 at Saint Jean Cemetery in Troy.

The processing center was originally a 3 story wooden building - with outbuildings - that burned down a few years later.

In 1902, at the age of just 10 years old, John was alive when the Aswan Low Dam (the old Aswan Dam) began construction in Egypt in 1899 and was completed in 1902 - making it the largest masonry dam in the world at the time. The dam was built on the Nile River in order to conserve water and regulate flooding, allowing for population increase along the Nile.
