    John H. Lynch SALISBURY, Md., July 12 (Spec)?'). Funeral services were held in Berlin yesterday for John Henry Lynch, 69, of Berlin, a waterman of that section. Mr. Lynch died in Peninsula General Hospital here Friday night.

In 1885, in the year that John Henry Lynch was born, on June 17th, the Statue of Liberty arrived in New York Harbor. Two hundred thousand people and hundreds of boats greeted the statue. It had to be assembled but that had to wait until the pedestal was completed the following April.

In 1896, by the time he was merely 11 years old, on August 17th, the first pedestrian v car fatality occurred in Great Britain. Bridget Driscoll, age 44, was walking with her family on the grounds of The Crystal Palace in London when she was hit by a car driven by Arthur James Edsall. Edsall claimed to be going 4.5 mph and Driscoll's death was ruled an "accidental death" after an inquest.
