    I am mother-in-law to Rochelle Field nee McDonald. I have a photo of John Edward McDonald (859-1927) and his wife Sarah Laing (1864-1920) with their six children taken about 1898, possibly on their arrival from Victoria to Bunbury WA. Four more children were born in Bunbury. J. E. Mcdonald's father was also John Edward McDonald and was born Beaufort, Victoria.

In 1800, on August 30th, educated blacksmith Gabriel Prosser organized a slave revolt. He wanted to capture Richmond and kill all whites - excluding Methodists, Quakers, Frenchmen, and the poor - and become king of a new black nation. The revolt failed, he was captured and hung. Slave laws were tightened in Virginia.
Did you know?
In 1838, on February 24th, Representatives William J. Graves (Kentucky) and Jonathan Cilley (Maine) fought a duel with rifles. They faced off at 94 yards. Cilley was hit on Graves' third try - in the femoral artery - and bled to death on the dueling field. The Panic of 1837 and Jackson's presidency had caused an extremely partisan Congress and the duel was a result.
