John boarded Lusitania as saloon (1st class) with his parents and siblings Stephen (14) Alberta (12) Catherine (10) Paul (9) Peter (9 months) on May 1, 1915. 6 days later on May 7th the ship was struck by a torpedo from a German submarine then sank in 18 minutes at 2:10 pm off the coast of Ireland. The whole family perished in the sinking and they did not seem confused or in a panic. John's body was recovered with his older brother Stephen and baby brother Peter.
