    John Adrew Gadish was my grandfather. He was raised by his Grandmother whose last name was Gadish. He took her last name and was raised in Whiting Indiana. He worked several years for BP Amoco. He was married to Helen Agnes Gadish. They died within three weeks of eachother and had a daughter, Mary Ann Gadish, and a son, John Gadish Jr.

In 1918, in the year that John Andrew Gadish was born, on November 11th, an armistice was signed between the Allies and Germany, ending the fighting on the Western Front in World War I. This meant a complete defeat of Germany although Germany never formally surrendered. It took another six months of negotiations to sign an actual peace treaty between the warring parties.
